From Vision to Impact: Meet Gordon Day, a Leader in Canada’s Circular Economy
Gordon is the Vice President of Ryse Solutions, where he leads day-to-day operations and has been instrumental in building and expanding the Producer Responsibility Organization (PRO) services group. Since Ryse’s launch in 2018 as a PRO for tires, the organization has grown to offer compliance services across all six regulated programs in Ontario, making it the only PRO in the province to provide such a comprehensive suite of services. Today, Ryse Solutions supports over 500 producer clients with their compliance needs.
With more than 30 years of experience in recycling, waste diversion, and producer responsibility, Gordon brings deep industry knowledge and leadership. Prior to joining Ryse Solutions, he was a senior executive at Reclay StewardEdge from its inception. Earlier in his career, he played a key role in designing, implementing, and managing several provincial stewardship programs, including Stewardship Ontario, Multi-Material Stewardship Manitoba (MMSM), the Canadian Beverage Container Recovery Association (CBCRA), and Ontario Electronic Stewardship (OES).
Looking ahead, Gordon’s focus is on strengthening Ryse’s foundation and accelerating growth, doubling its customer base while deepening relationships with existing clients. He’s also committed to fostering a workplace culture that’s fun, inclusive, and adaptable as the team continues to evolve.
Fun Fact: Gordon began his career in producer responsibility straight out of university, working for RIS Ltd.—the pioneering firm behind Ontario's Blue Box program. That experience shaped his forward-thinking approach and involvement in many of Canada’s most innovative recycling initiatives.
